Stainless Steel Mixing
Bowls
Adding stainless
steel mixing bowls to your home is an essential part of your
kitchen if you take cooking and baking seriously. These
professional bowls also add many other factors that you may not
think of initially such as a great look along with health
benefits.
It is strongly
recommended that you don't go for just one, but rather a set of
stainless steel mixing bowls. Depending on your kitchen,
the bigger is better but you can make anything work if you live
in a tiny box in the city. You probably won't break out
the largest bowl that often, but when the holidays come around
you will be grateful you have it on hand. Getting high
quality mixing bowls is one of the things you should not skimp
on because you will use them at least a few times a week if you
cook a lot. These stainless steel mixing bowls are
terrific for mixing, blending and beating.
There are many types
of stainless steel mixing bowls out there, but shopping isn't
as confusing as many people make it out to be. The first
thing you should do is make sure it is stainless steel.
Personally, I have seen bowls that look like stainless steel at
dollar stores, but these bowls are definitely not made of
stainless steel and should be avoided. What you should
look for when you buy your mixing bowl or bowls is the
somewhere on a label or the bottom that says 18/10. What
18/10 means that the steel is made of the highest level and
quality with a mixture of chromium and nickel. There is
also the less used 18/8. But there is no difference
between 18/10 and 18/8 and both types of stainless steel mixing
bowls will last you for decades.
Although stainless
steel mixing bowls are beautiful on their own, there are also
style options. Most people like the classic look and
color and don't stray from it. However if you have a
modern kitchen or just want a spice of color you are in luck
because the outside of the bowls can come in any color you can
think of--from navy to fluorescent pink. Also you can get
these bowls with feet so when you mix your award winning
brownies it doesn't move all over the place. However my
personal tip when mixing in standard stainless steel mixing
bowls is to simply put a towel underneath which will prevent it
moving.
The health and
safety benefits of stainless steel mixing bowls are things that
most people completely overlook. Because they are
very durable and steel is a very strong material they will not
leech chemicals like cheaper materials such as plastic.
Plastic has been known to leech chemicals such as BPA which
makes many people sick and is also not good for the
environment. Stainless steel bowls are also dishwasher safe and
extremely easy to clean up even if you decide to just hand wash
it. Plastic stains extremely easily and plastic and glass
can also crack which is a safety concern.
Stainless steel
mixing bowls are often an overlooked tool in the kitchen
however are essential for the serious cook. These bowls
are much more durable and safer than their plastic and glass
counterparts. One of the best investments you can make is
to get a high quality set of mixing bowls because with proper
care they will last you for a lifetime.
